What second-skin film does that cling film doesn’t

• Breathable — allows moisture vapour to escape while keeping bacteria out. Cling film is fully occlusive and traps heat
• Self-adhesive — conforms to the body and stays in place during movement, sleep, and light activity
• Transparent — artist and client can monitor the tattoo through the film without removing it
• Longer wear time — designed to stay on for 3–5 days; cling film typically needs replacing every few hours

How to use Tattoo Wrap Pro

1. Apply directly to clean, dry tattooed skin immediately after the session (your artist will do this in-studio)
2. Leave in place for 3–5 days — or as directed by your artist
3. Remove by peeling back slowly under warm running water to soften the adhesive
4. Wash immediately with Foam Nurse Tattoo Soap Wash and pat dry
5. Begin applying Ink Nurse Remedy Cream 2–3x daily from this point through the full healing period

Best for / Not ideal for

Tattoo Wrap Pro is best for: the first 3–5 days post-session as a cling film replacement. Suitable for all placements. Particularly useful for tattoos in areas prone to friction (inner arm, ribs, back of knee) or contamination (hands, feet).

Not ideal for: use over infected or actively inflamed skin. If redness is spreading or the tattoo shows signs of infection before the film is applied, seek medical advice first.

Not a substitute for: cream aftercare in weeks 2–4. Second-skin film covers the inflammatory phase only.

Frequently asked questions

How long should I leave the second-skin film on?
3–5 days is the standard recommendation. Your artist may give specific guidance based on your tattoo size, placement, and how much plasma weeping occurs. Do not leave the film on for longer than 7 days.

What if fluid builds up under the film?
Some plasma pooling under the film is normal in the first 24–48 hours. If the pool becomes very large, the film lifts at the edges, or you see signs of infection (green or yellow fluid, spreading redness, fever), remove the film and see a doctor.

Can I shower with the film on?
Yes — brief showers are fine. Avoid soaking (long showers, baths, pools) as prolonged water exposure can compromise the adhesive seal.

How do I remove the film without it hurting?
Peel slowly under warm running water. The warmth softens the adhesive. Pull the film back on itself (parallel to the skin) rather than lifting it away at an angle.

Do I need to apply cream before putting the film on?
No. The film is applied to clean, dry skin immediately after the session. Do not apply cream underneath — it will compromise the adhesive seal.

My artist used cling film. Can I switch to second-skin at home?
Second-skin film is best applied at the studio immediately post-session. Applying it at home hours later on a tattoo that has already begun weeping is less effective. If your artist used cling film, follow their removal instructions and then begin the standard wash-and-cream routine.

Is the film suitable for sensitive or eczema-prone skin?
The adhesive in second-skin film may cause reactions in people with very reactive skin or adhesive sensitivities. If you have a known adhesive allergy, test a small piece on non-tattooed skin before use and consult your dermatologist.

Can artists buy this for their studio?
